The challenge runs over a five-year period and incorporates a series of interventions that aim to surface design innovations that support the improvement of the living conditions of people living in low-income communities and enable the incremental upgrading of homes.
As part of the BLC, the Cape Craft and Design Institute -are partnering with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and Black Wolf Agency to come up with great ideas on how to use the power of social media to surface innovative building/upgrading ideas from informal builders and residents living in lower-income communities across the province.
These workshops will comprise of an open co-design session to ideate how this campaign could work, after which the most promising ideas will be taken away for further development. This event is being hosted by Open Design Cape Town Festival 2017. More here: http://opendesignct.com/
